Registering Taxes in Cambodia
Once your business has been registered and it has been approved and stamped by the Ministry of Commerce then you have 15 business days from the registration ISSUE DATE to register your business with the tax office. For more information about registering your business, check here.
Your initial business and tax registration is very important, if done correctly it can save you thousands of dollars in the future. Most importantly, you need to make sure you are giving the right information to the tax office supervisor who decides what tax bracket your business comes under. Being on the wrong tax bracket can end up costing you a lot more than you should be paying in taxes.
The department of taxation requires all businesses to register taxes within 15 business days, we can’t stress this enough, if you are late registering then there is a US$500 fine.
Below gives you an idea of what the typical taxes are, however there are numerous other taxes that may apply to you, depending on your business type.
- VAT Tax 10% (less for small tax returns)
- Patent Tax (yearly tax)
- Profit Tax from 5% to 25% (minimum turnover of 1% if not profitable)
- Salary Tax up to 20% depending on salaries
- Withholding Tax 10% (rental tax which is often paid by the landlord)
